Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Is animal stuffing the same as taxidermy?
A: No. The skins of dead animals used to be literally stuffed with rags and various materials. Nowadays, their tanned skin is usually put on a polyurethane mould for a more realistic representation.
Q: Do I have any type of flexibility with the way my deer will look?
A: Yes. Today’s taxidermy techniques allow for almost any pose possible, including added decorations to help create an entire scene.
Q: What are the options for mounting my trophy deer?
A: You can choose to have its head, head and shoulders or just its antlers mounted. You can also select a full body reproduction.
Q: What are some common taxidermy supplies?
A: In order to complete a taxidermy project, you would most likely need glass eyes, panels and displays, airbrushing supplies and paints, molding, chemicals and tanning, fleshers and tumblers and assorted hand tools.
Q: Do they use the actual fish when they taxidermy your trophy?
A: No. In fact, you don’t even need to send them the fish. Just send a photo with the measurements and they’ll create a fiberglass reproduction.
